[I believe this was taken prior to the raising of the house 12 inches which was done in 1899 according to the narrative. The porches are not raised above the ground and the larger front porch does not yet have the brick piers that are seen in the next picture below this one. -DRL]

The kitchen addition, built on in 1902, is the one-story section seen here. The cookstove was in the middle, between the windows (note the chimney). There was a pantry on the southwest corner and a bathroom on the northwest corner (the left side).
